An election tribunal sitting in Birnin Kebbi earlier today voided the election of the Kebbi State governor, Saidu Dakin Gari over the propriety of his nomination process.

Like  other state governors, Alhaji Saidu was elected under the banner of the PDP in a general election that have been written off as unfair and marred by irregularities by local and international election monitors.

Alhaji Saidu Dakin Gari is Umar Musa Yar’Adua’s son-in-law. The tribunal ruling marks a third ruling by elections petition tribunals handling cases of election petitions across Nigeria. In a previous ruling in Awka, Anambra State a Tribunal threw out the case against Emmanuel Andy Uba, contending that since the Supreme Court reversed the removal of Peter Obi the tribunal didn't recognize Andy Uba's election. Also last week, an Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kogi State cancelled the election of the governor, Ibrahim Idris of Kogi State.
