This comes as ministers converged in Riyadh to discuss the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and stressed the urgent need for imposing sanctions on Israel.

Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, is leading a Gaza committee that is demanding sanctions on Israel over the war with Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza.

This comes as ministers converged in Riyadh to discuss the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and stressed the urgent need for imposing sanctions on Israel.

ArabNews reports that Faisal bin Farhan chaired the meeting which comprised dignitaries from a group formed jointly by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Arab League as they gathered to address developments in the Gaza war.

It was reported that the ministers called for international legal mechanisms to hold Israeli officials accountable.

They also called for decisive action against settler terrorism, while officials from Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Palestine, Qatar and the OIC advocated for halting arms exports in response to Israel's violations of international law and war crimes in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

During the meeting, it was emphasised that the Gaza Strip constitutes an inseparable part of the occupied Palestinian territory, rejecting any attempts to displace the Palestinian population from their homeland or to carry out military operations within the city of Rafah.

The ministers further addressed the repression faced by peaceful demonstrators in Western countries who advocate for an end to the Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza.

They also condemned Israeli violations against Palestinians.

The ministers also discussed extensively on enhancing joint Arab and Islamic efforts to achieve an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza, with a priority on safeguarding civilian lives and ensuring the consistent delivery of humanitarian aid.

They made a commitment to persist in international endeavours aimed at recognising an independent Palestinian state.

The commitment included the endorsement of a two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as its capital within the borders of June 4, 1967, in alignment with relevant international resolutions.
