No fewer than 164 pupils have been withdrawn from the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School at Dota Dobi ward in the Gwagwalada Area Council (FCT) Abuja over the bad state of the school.

This figure was confirmed in a recent post made by Monitng, a civic technology platform, in a post on its X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported how the residents raised the alarm over the deteriorating and dilapidated state of the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School in their community.

Pictures of the school seen by SaharaReporters had shown part of the roof blown open, giving direct access to sun and rain.

The inaction of the government to develop education in the FCT has worsened the situation as over 164 pupils of the community who rely on the school as a means of getting primary education have had to drop out.

Residents of the community have also expressed their frustration and disappointment at the neglect of education development in their community as they urged the government to take immediate action to address the poor state of schools in the area.

Monitng, a civic technology platform, in a post on its X (formerly Twitter) urged the government to intervene in the quality of education in the FCT.

“Dear @GovWike, This is the DILAPIDATED condition of LEA Primary Sch, Dota Dobi ward Gwagwalada Area Council FCT, where over 164 pupils have dropped out of school. Dota residents decry dilapidated schools and demand govt intervention over the poor condition of the schools,” the group said.

As the future of education in Dota Dobi ward hangs in the balance, the community remains hopeful as they call on the government for a swift intervention.

Monitng also called on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike as well as the Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, to address the crisis in the education sector.

“We urgently appeal to the @GovWike  and @IretiKingibe to intervene on their behalf and provide these deserving children with a conducive learning environment,” it said.
