A 35-year-old man identified as Samuel Oyetayo has been arraigned by Nigerian police on a charge of forgery in Oyo State.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Oyetayo is standing trial on a count on Monday before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

 

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 1, around Dugbe area, Ibadan.

 

Mr Ibrahim said the defendant forged the permit and ticket without the government’s consent, adding that the offence contravened Section 467 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

 

Meanwhile, the magistrate, Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

 

She adjourned the case until June 24 for a hearing.
