Femi Falana calls on African lawyers to fight Morocco's violation of Sahrawi activists rights

President of the West African Bar Association and famous Nigerian civil rights lawyer, Femi Falana, today visited Madame Aminatou Haidar, the Sahrawi human rights activist, at the Lanzarote airport in Canary Islands, Spain.

Falana’s visit coincided with the sixth day of Haidar's open-ended hunger strike and vigil at the flight's hall, Haidar is also protesting the refusal of the Moroccan and Spanish governments to allow her visit her family in Western Sahara, currently under the illegal occupation of Morocco.

Mr. Falana said during his meeting with struggling desert activist that he was visiting "in order to express support, on behalf of the solidarity movement of Africa, especially Nigerians, his absolute support of the demands of the Sahrawi people.  He condemned their unfair treatment as a people, and the violation of their rights to immigration without passports through the Morrocan desert. He also condemned the complicity of the Spanish authorities.

During a press conference he held with the Sahrawi activist, the African jurist warned: "African Lawyers cannot ignore the enormity of the crimes committed by the Moroccan authorities against Sahrawi civilians, the most recent being the expulsion of Aminetou Haidar and arrest of seven activists, preventing many from traveling without  travel documents and detention."

Even more seriously, Mr. Falana said: "Morocco, which occupies the other African country by force, benefits from the support of some international powers, especially the European greats, for the further colonization of Western Sahara, to violate the rights of its people, looting its resources and the challenge of the United Nations and international legitimacy for the organization of the referendum on self determination and respect for human rights.

Mr. Falana vowed to "take all necessary steps at the level of the statutory bodies of Africa and the UN, to win respect for the rights of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and also to guarantee for its activists and lawyers the freedom of movement and the peaceful expression of opinions and political beliefs."

@ANTIPARASITE
You are not the only Christian on this forum & don't think you are doing any service to Christianity by insulting prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his followers; because you can never find in the history of this whole world, a single Muslim who visit the same insult to [Isa A.S.] Jesus Christ (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be with him); and it will never happen till the last day.

Because of this on behalf of all Muslims I say:
May the Almighty ALLAH that Muhammad (SAW) and we Muslims believe in, continue to torment you (inward & outward) in this world and the next. May HE also make the PARASITE that you hate (because you are ANTI-PARASITE) to descend on you & destroy you alive. May HE also makes you find no peace in your life & all those who share with you these unacceptable & provocative ideologies.
THESE ALL BECAUSE YOU HURT THE FEELINGS OF ALL MUSLIMS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH BY YOUR PROVOCATIVE COMMENTS ON THE PERSON OF OUR HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD (SAW).

I sincerely respect and concored with the efforts of chief Falana in his movement of collective struggle for the emmancipation of the oppressed, but i would rather say that Falana should have dwell more in Nigerian,going by the kind gross violation of humanright nd the contineous motulation of justice and the basterdisation of our entire legal system.Our judicial system is corrupt and dirty,and the earlier your struggle catches that the meaningless your international struggle would be.

Trust Africans! when they learn something, they over-learn it so that when they practice it, they over-practice it too. Morocco has learn the colonization skills from the western countries and now over-practicing it by occupying another territory beyond her jurisdiction. We need revolution in Africa to deliver us from ourselves.

This act of illegal colonization has become the order of the day in Africa. I fully support the effort of Mr. Falana but I think he should also extend his magnanimity to the people of Bakkasi pennisular.

Thank you chief Falana. However, I am sorry that you call is defective. There is the saying that charity begins at home. You cannot say that Lawyers in Nigeria are not aware of the gross abouse of human rights of her fellow citizens, what have they done? The battle Gani fought for and died, which you are known to be fighting is very much with us. Tell the Nigeria Bar Association, where some members have become lame ducks to rise to the occasion in Nigeria. After they have shown the example, then your call can become meaningful.

Why African countries like Morocco that can hardly care for its people and the territory legitimately under its control will be seeking to olonoze another country is beyond my imagination. Sahrawi is recognized by the African Union, but like most things the organization does, the recognition is in words only. It is time to free the people of Sahrawi from the feudal chains of Morocco and all justce loving peoples must rise in their support.
