SERAP sues Yar’Adua, Aondoakaa over spending of N600b recovered loot

The Registered Trustees of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) have dragged President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua; the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice; Accountant-General of the Federation and the Auditor-General of the Federation to the Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged failure to provide information on the spending of recovered stolen public funds.

Where is Umaru Yar'adua: An open letter of appeal to the King of Saudi Arabia

Your Royal Highness: In the Name of God, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful. We the under-listed concerned citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria address this open letter of appeal to your government to reveal to Nigerians the exact location and state of health of our president, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua who we believe has been your guest and patient in one of your hospitals since November 23, 2009. This Open Letter of Appeal has become necessary because a nation of nearly 150 million has not seen or heard of its president for six weeks without any credible information.

Early in November 2009, we published on this blog a story titled: ‘High Profile Corporate Crimes in Nigeria-the case of Bata Company.’ Many of the responses especially from Chartered Accountants encouraged us to officially petition the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) who exercises professional oversight on all chartered accountants in the country. In fact some commentators accused us albeit falsely that we were not sure of the facts that was why we have not gone to the professional body to file our petition

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has called on the National Judicial Council, (NJC), through the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Idris Kutigi, to kick Justice Marcel Awokulehin off the James Ibori kangaroo trial in Asaba.

We say no to anti-students’ union bill-For Full Respect of Students’ Rights to Independent Unionism

We Nigerian students under the aegis of the Education Rights Campaign (ERC) hereby condemn the “Students’ Union Activities (Control and Regulation) Amendment Bill 2008” which is currently before the National Assembly. This is because the bill is anti-student, undemocratic and vindictive.
